One of the auction prizes at the FOTS Summer Ball was for your child to be the Headteacher for the day. One of our Year 4 pupils spent today assisting Mrs Whittle, including giving out the awards in our Achievement Assembly. She requested that each teacher plays their favourite song to their class and she was on hand to help with Headteacher's hot chocolate, which rewards the Stars of the Week. She did everything with such a lovely manner and all the staff think she has the makings of a great Headteacher.
Huge thanks to Asquiths Bearpawium on Hart Street for allowing Year 1 and 2 pupils to visit their enchanting shop and learn about the history of the Teddy Bear and the remarkable legacy of Steiff Teddy Bears. This links to KS1's current topic of learning about toys from the past. Owner Rachel commented ''It’s wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic about the history of toys, especially the Teddy Bear. The stories behind these Teddy Bears not only teach us about craftsmanship and innovation, but also about love and resilience over the years."
A group of year 5 pupils attended a forensic science workshop at Pangbourne College. Using various forensic investigation techniques, the children worked with pupils from Yattendon Primary School to solve clues and find out who had stolen the headmaster's goldfish.
This year, Trinity held a fantastic Pyjama Party to support BBC Children in Need. Staff and pupils embraced the cosy vibes, coming to school in their favourite PJs, oodies, dressing gowns, and slippers —all for a great cause.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our school community. With donations still coming in, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve already raised an amazing £656! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this event such a success!
Pupils across the school have been learning about Remembrance Day and why it's so important to remember those who gave their life for us. In Forest School, pupils used leaf stalks and wool to make poppies and all pupils decorated a poppy and wrote the name of someone from Henley who died serving in the Armed Forces. These poppies were put in Holy Trinity churchyard as part of our Remembrance Day service.
Two Year 6 pupils wrote the following to highlight why Remembrance Day is so important to acknowledge:
Remembrance day is important to us because it is a time to pay respect to the people who died and gave their today for our tomorrow. This international day of reflection brings everyone together, unites even the worst of foes, to ponder how the families of the fallen must have felt with their loved ones' names written on graves. When people march side by side with wreaths of poppies in their palms it reminds us how grateful we should be and we shall have this special day lest we forget. The reason we have this day is so that we don’t take for granted or forget the soldiers who fell on Flanders fields.
At Trinity we’ve also had our personal reflection on what happened to those brave soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom. At Trinity, every pupil crafts a paper poppy on a lolly stick that has a fallen soldier who lived in Henley’s name on it and we put them in the gardens at Trinity church. The lower years learnt songs about remembrance day and on the eleventh of November we walked over to Trinity church. Some students said prayers and we all sang the song ‘World in union’ together, as one. It was a day of remembrance, a day of appreciation – this come-together is a break from thinking about the future, but a time to think about the past and learn from our mistakes not repeat them.
All in all, here at Trinity we have reflected about remembrance day and all the soldiers who died serving their country. We must be extremely grateful as these soldiers did not want to die, but they made huge sacrifices and we should take a page out of their story and make bold decisions, doing what’s right and not what’s easy.
This year our new School Council team has been busy deciding what charities we will support and thinking of different ways we can fundraise for them. Our first charity we have chosen to raise money for is Epilepsy Action - a charity that supports people living with epilepsy and provides advice to those who care for them. To help raise awareness and money, Trinity children came into school wearing something purple and learnt a bit more about the health condition. Thank you for all your donations!
Congratulations to Year 6 pupil Harriet who designed the winning entry for the Henley Youth Festival logo competition. Of the 175 entries, 15 of the finalists were from Trinity, with the Mayor of Henley selecting Harriet's design as the overall winner.
Pupils all enjoyed visiting the Henley Literary Festival and the opportunity to hear from various authors. As a school we are always promoting a love of reading, so we are very lucky to be able to take part in an event like this. Thanks to all the parents who gave up their time to accompany the groups and well done to all the pupils for behaving so well and for asking some really insightful questions.
Trinity Pre-school is running an Open Morning from 9:30 - 11:30am on Tuesday 15th October to give prospective new families the chance to come along, meet the staff and some of the other children who attend and to see the facilities and what a wonderful setting it is.
We are very lucky to share our school site with Trinity Pre-school. The Pre-school and our Primary School are run separately, but many children start their Trinity journey at the Pre-school.
Spaces are available from September 2024 onwards, so this is a great opportunity to come along and see what makes the Pre-school so special.

The Open Morning is principally aimed at parents / carers of children who would start school in September 2025. There will be an introduction and presentation from the Headteacher with the opportunity to ask questions, followed by a tour of the school.

This year we've had over 50 children completing the Bronze, Silver and Gold Mayor of Henley awards. Children have completed their skills, physical and faith sections over varying periods of time. Activities included litter picking, triathlons, bake sales, learning to cook, coding, sleeping in tents and much, much more!
Altogether the children have raised over £1750 for charity! It has been fantastic to see the children learning new skills, taking on new challenges and supporting their local community and in doing so they are living our school's vision.
To end the awards, the Bronze group walked 3.5 miles, the Silver walked 8 miles and the Gold walked 9.5 miles! Everyone did brilliantly and their resilience was fantastic to see.
